Okavango Experience
Enjoy this Overlanding tour across Africa's vast and varied landscapes. Become part of Africa as you experience the sights, sounds and smells first-hand. The Overland truck is a purpose built vehicle designed for tough African conditions and plenty of game viewing. As a member of the crew you help to load and unload the vehicle, set up camp, cook, wash up and even shop for food.
As you travel from Johannesburg to the Okavango Delta in Botswana you will camp under starry African skies and have the opportunity to admire mighty rhinos in an African Sanctuary. You will move on to experience the untouched wilderness in the Okavango and incredible game viewing in the Chobe National Park, before travelling to Zambia where you will feel the spray of the mighty Victoria Falls.
Begin the journey in South Africa's commercial centre; Johannesburg, a sprawling city of green parks and sparkling skyscrapers, gracious mansions and lively townships. We set off on our journey to Botswana.
Camping
We will visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, where we will witness the benefits of this dramatically successful conservation project on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. A dusk game drive may reveal white rhinos, wildebeest, zebras and giraffes. Visiting the sanctuary benefits the local communities as well as the horned creature after whom it's named.
Camping
We travel to the Okavango Delta where rising in Angola to soak into the Kalahari sands, this astonishing wetland is the only one of its kind. Explore its twisting network of lagoons and channels with a local guide in a mokoro, a traditional pole-propelled dugout canoe. Try to spot hippos lounging among the lily pads, antelopes and elephants nudging aside papyrus reeds for a drink, crocodiles basking on the banks or startled birds rising from the foliage. Camp on a remote island deep in the wilderness and drift to sleep amid the delta's nocturnal sounds.
Camping
We travel to the world renowned Chobe National Park, famous for its elephants, Chobe also shelters lions, hippos and African fish eagle. Enjoy a relaxed water safari down the Chobe River in the golden afternoon - the best way to see these creatures at close quarters.
Camping
Perhaps enjoy an optional dawn game drive before heading for Zambia. Cross the river by ferry to end the journey in Livingstone, gateway to Victoria Falls. This imposing sheet of white water crashes with such force that clouds of spray are visible from miles away.
