Wild Coast Tour
A 5 day tour offering a journey along the Indian Ocean Coastline and through the Eastern Cape taking you from rugged coastline to rolling hills, from ocean views to The 'Big Five'. This tour offers an exciting, slightly different tour of South Africa.
Departing from Durban we drive along the coast of KwaZulu-Natal into the Eastern Cape and watch as the landscape changes drastically to deep gorges, lush green vegetation and flowing rivers. Our first two nights are spent at a delightful river lodge where we spend time relaxing after we have explored the surrounding attractions.
Our third day is spent winding our way up the coast once more from Port St. Johns up to East London. This drive is jam packed with magnificent scenery and breath-taking views so remember to charge your camera batteries the night before! After a refreshing nights sleep in Grahamstown we then move inland to Grahamstown, stopping along the way in Bathhurst to learn more about pineapple production.
Grahamstown is a beautiful University town fondly known as 'the City of the Saints' due to the large number of churches and religious buildings in the town. While in Grahamstown we will have time to wander the streets, marvelling at the old architecture and we will even visit the fascinating Camera Obscura to gain a bird's eye view of the city before continuing on to our game lodge.
Our final day starts with an early morning nature walk or drive through the forest, passing the zebra and antelope as they graze before we venture forth to the Addo Elephant National Park, were we attempt to spot some of the wide variety of animals found in the Park.
Depart Durban and drive south along the Indian Ocean coastline of KwaZulu Natal. Cross the Mtamvuna River into the scenic Eastern Cape region, home of the Xhosa people, with its endless hillsides of traditional huts and villages. Just outside of Lusikisiki drive past the Magwa tea plantation, where the landscape changes drastically to deep gorges filled with lush vegetation and waterfalls. Descending through the Mqaba forest we reach Pondoland's best kept secret, situated at the mouth of the Mbotyi River and tidal estuary. Dinner is served at the lodge.
