Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
The 54 000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous fauna and flora, rock formations and rock art make this a destination not to be missed. The name Sanbona is a combination of the "San" people who wandered this area for thousands of years and "bona" which represents their vision in order to position this portion of the Little Karoo. Be it a journey of rejuvenation and self discovery or absorbing the various essences and activities, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve represents in true form the philosophy of the Mantis - taking care of the small things in life.
Allow Sanbona's qualified rangers to lead you in comfortable Land Rovers, or on foot through the bush to spot a wide range of plants and animals. Sunrise and sunset trails lead to secluded rock pools and spectacular examples of San art - hidden away between breathtaking rock formations. There are a wide range of easy and challenging routes from which to choose. Watch birds of prey soar in the wide blue African sky.
Accommodation
Accommodation is offered in two separate lodges at Sanbona. Exclusivity ensures that guests can experience personal service and world-class cuisine in an atmosphere of privacy and tranquillity. Comfortable lounges with fireplaces for winter nights, private verandas, romantic free standing baths and carefully sheltered outdoor showers are just a few of the pleasure that guests can enjoy.
Each lodge offers a distinct ambiance and exclusive luxury retreat experience against the backdrop of Klein Karoo. The lodges operate independently, each with a full staff compliment including its own Management team, chef brigade, hosts and hostesses and experienced field guides. Dinner is alternated between the in and outdoor facilities, weather permitting.
