The idyllic town of Langebaan is located 120kms from Cape Town on the West Coast. The seasons on the West Coast can be hard and dramatic, with strong winds in winter, contrasting with still and peaceful days in summer. The protected Langebaan lagoon, part of the West Coast National Park, is a haven for water-lovers and birders, with migratory birds flocking here annually.

From July to September the landscape is transformed into a spectacular garden bursting with wild flowers. Over the winter to spring months one may catch the sight of a Southern Right Whale in the lagoon, where they return to calve each year.
