Type: Botanical Garden, Nature, Hiking, Restaurant
Time needed: 1 Hour(s) to 4 Hour(s)
Nestled between mountains and sea, the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Betty's Bay incorporate both landscaped fynbos gardens and vast tracts of pristine natural fynbos. The gardens are in the heart of the rich coastal fynbos belt and include proteas, ericas, restios, daisies and orchids and are particularly noted for their beautiful waterfalls and mountain pools. A series of nature walks allow visitors to explore the gardens which offer beautiful views of both the mountains and the ocean. The gardens are also home to over 80 species of birds including the vibrant Orange-Breasted Sunbird and wildlife such as porcupines and mongoose. Following a leisurely stroll, or a more strenuous hike, visitors can enjoy afternoon tea at the Sugarbird Tearoom.
