Type: Gardens, Museum, Nature, Outdoors
Time needed: 30 Minute(s) to 3 Hour(s)
The Company Gardens are a large public park and botanical garden in the centre of Cape Town city stretching from St George's Mall to Orange Street. Originally created to provide fresh vegetables to the Dutch East India Company, the gardens are now linked to the South African Museum, the Planetarium, the National Gallery, the Jewish Museum and the government's summer Parliament. The people seen wandering the gardens are often a good mix of locals; enjoying the sunshine and fresh air on their coffee breaks, and tourists taking in the beauty of this popular attraction.
