The resort town of Badplaas is set in a beautiful valley at the foot of the Dhlumudhlumu Mountains, where a sulphur spring delivers approximately 30 000 litres of hot water per hour. In 1893 the government claimed the springs to develop a health resort for public use in perpetuity. This resort is still in existence today where the water is fed and pumped into a series of baths, pools and slides providing hours of fun and pampering. Badplaas is part of the Wild Frontier region, a cradle of life with archaeological discoveries dating back more than three billion years. The Wild Frontier's heritage trails, hiking and 4 x4 trails offer a journey of discovery.
