Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park
The Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park is in fact a collection of several parks situated around the mountain range. The area is commonly divided into three sections: the Northern, Central and Southern Berg.
Granted World Heritage status in 2000, this vast 243 000 hectare park is one of great scenic beauty while also a site of historical and cultural significance; the San rock-art sites scattered throughout the range are evidence of the fact that people have lived here for thousands of years. The spectacular peaks of Champagne Castle, Giant's Castle and Cathedral Peak, along with the unforgettable arc of the Amphitheatre, provide some of the most remarkable and unforgettable sites in South Africa that definitely live up to their picture-postcard appeal.
