Battlefields Tour

Durban - Pietermaritzburg (or reverse)
Duration: 1 Days
Departs: Umhlanga hotels and Durban hotels on Wednesdays and Fridays
Returns: Place of origin

This day long tour begins with a scenic drive via Pietermaritzburg through sugar cane fields and forest areas to Greytown; Natal hinterland, the rural areas of the Tugela Ferry and Pomeroy. We visit local residents in their traditional dress and spend time at Fugitives' Drift - the grave site of Lt Cognhill and Lt Melville before moving on to Rourke's Drift Museum; the battlefields of Isandlwana and the fertile Nkwaleni Valley. We hear tales of fearsome battles and valiant heroes as the time of the battles comes alive. After a long day filled with historical insight we then return to Durban.
