Take a ride in a colourful rickshaw along the beachfront and sample a local curry - Durban style. Follow the Midlands Meander though quaint countryside between Mooi River and Pietermaritzburg and visit galleries and workshops to shop for original hand-crafted goods.
Visit the Battlefields Region and join a guided tour to learn more of the fierce battles that took place between the British and the Boers; and the Boers and the Zulu's.
In terms of wildlife, KwaZulu Natal is home to the third largest park in South Africa namely the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Here a unique ecosystem encompassing coastline, swamps, lakes and coastal forest makes for unparalleled ecotourism. From diving off the coral reef to canoeing on Lake St Lucia and watching Leatherback turtles lay their eggs in the sand at Kosi Bay, the area is simply filled with exciting experiences. The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park is well known for its rhino conservation programme and offers excellent game viewing - as do a number of other privately owned reserves.
