Travel from Port Elizabeth airport to the historic Malaria-Free Great Fish River Region, where you will enjoy the diverse experience of game viewing in an ambience of stylish sophistication. This wilderness experience offers the perfect opportunity to view The 'Big Five' in their natural habitat. Set off on guided bush walks bringing you face-to-face with Wild Africa at its best. Hiking in the fields is especially rewarding for those interested in birds and vegetation. Set off on a Unique Specialist Safari, an extraordinary historic safari exploring the region's rich social, cultural, military and archaeological past, led by a resident historian.

Move on to the Malaria Free Addo Elephant National Park where your Premier Boutique Lodge offers a haven in the wilderness. Accommodation is in luxurious tents, reminiscent of the early 1900's golden era of Safari. You will have the opportunity to feel in touch with nature knowing that qualified rangers and guides will accompany you on exciting activities, such as Game Drives, Horse Riding, Walking Trails and Mountain Bike Trails.

Day One

On arrival at Port Elizabeth airport, collect your hired car and drive to the Malaria-free Kwandwe Private Game Reserve.

The reserve is located near Grahamstown, in the historic Great Fish River region. This journey will take you approximately two hours.

This is a 20 000 hectare reserve which was restored and restocked as part of a far reaching conservation plan for the area. Some of the animals that you can view are; lion, black and white Rhino, buffalo and Elephant.

Kwandwe offers you the diverse experience of game viewing in an ambience of stylish sophistication.

Kwandwe aptly means "Place of the Blue Crane" in Xhosa, South Africa's highly endangered national Bird. The reserve is home to a population of these rare birds. After settling into the lodge you will be taken on an exceptional game drive in a private 4 x4 vehicle. Kwandwe's Big Five wilderness offers the perfect opportunity to view these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for a traditional dining experience in a boma. (Outdoor dining area). You can then sit around the camp fire as you exchange stories about your game viewing experiences.

Accommodation is set along the aloe-studded banks of the Great Fish River, nine suites feature private plunge pools and spacious thatched game viewing decks with magnificent views of the wild yet gentle landscape.

Day Two

Set off on an early morning Game Drive where your experienced ranger and Xhosa tracker will lead you on an interpretive journey, bringing you close to Africa's Big Five. Return to the Lodge for a delectable breakfast served on the viewing decks.

Set off on a guided bush walk in Kwandwe's pristine wilderness bringing you face-to- face with wild Africa at its best. Hiking in the field is especially rewarding for those interested in birds and vegetation. You could then go on to do some fishing in the River. (On a tag and release basis).

After a relaxing lunch and quiet time in the sophisticated, glass fronted sitting areas which boast breathtaking river views, set off on a Unique Specialist Safari.

This is an extraordinary historic safari exploring the region's rich social, cultural, military and archaeological past led by Kwandwe's resident historian Alan Weyer. Thereafter you will enjoy an evening game drive where fascinating nocturnal animals such as aardvark, aardwolf, porcupine, Cape fox, bat-eared fox and springhare are regularly encountered.

Return to the lodge for a delicious Pan-African dinner served on your private deck or in the candlelit dining room.

Day Three

After an early morning Game drive and a leisurely breakfast served in the bush, make your way to one of the supremely luxurious lodges in the Malaria free Addo Elephant National Park, Gorah Elephant Camp. This is a premier boutique Lodge, a "haven in the Wilderness". Accommodation is in luxurious tents, reminiscent of the early 1900's golden era of safari. Follow in the footsteps of such stars as Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Sydney Pollak as you view the Big 5 Wildlife in an atmosphere of comfort and excellence associated with Africa's finest game lodges.

The incomparable thrill of quietly observing a passing herd of elephant while being served tea on the veranda of a stately Colonial manor house is the stuff of dreams and legends-at Gorah it's an everyday occurrence. Gorah is a member of Relais & Chateaux.

This park offers some of the most spectacular elephant viewing the world. Addo's over 450 elephants will delight you with their antics. You will have the opportunity to feel in touch with nature with the peace of mind that qualified rangers and guides will accompany you on exciting activities such as Game Drives, Horse Riding, Walking Trails and Mountain Bike Trails.

After a day of Game viewing be welcomed back to the Camp where you will be pampered with luxury in the Bush. Enjoy a delectable meal in the Manor House where soft candle light and lanterns in all the corners, put a soft layer of romance on the whole house and the mood is set for a brilliant night.

Each luxury tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, an interior relaxation area and a private deck offering panoramic views across the endless savannah plains.

Day Four

Enjoy an early morning Game drive and leisurely breakfast on the veranda at the front of the colonial Gorah house, overlooking the waterhole and the never ending Addo plains behind it. Enchanting scenes of animals trekking close for a drink and a cooling bath at the waterhole will keep you entertained for your "out of Africa" alfresco dining.

Bid farewell to this awesome natural world of Africa, as you make your way back to Port Elizabeth airport for your onward flight.
