Addo Elephant Back Safari offers the unique experience of spending time with Africa's gentle giants; the African Elephant, while they remain comfortable and in their natural environment. Bordering the Greater Addo Elephant National Park and flanked by the Zuurberg Mountains, Addo Elephant Back safaris is just a short distance from Port Elizabeth and is malaria free. Walk with the elephants through the indigenous bushveld; which is home to 4 of the 7 biomes in Southern Africa, and learn more about them and their natural habitat. Knowledgeable handlers will accompany you on the walk providing useful information and insight about the elephants and their environment - a vital aspect of the visit. After a slow and gentle walk the elephants are ready for a mid-day snack and guests are invited to take part in the feeding. Visitors can also choose to ride the elephants through the bush where you can feel their power and agility right beneath you. After the walk guests can enjoy a cold drink or a meal at the watering hole while the elephants play in the water. The elephants found at the Addo Elephant Back Safari camp originally came from the Kruger National Park after they escaped the culling program, and have since been trained by their affectionate minders.
