Beaches

Home to warm waters and blissful temperatures, Port Elizabeth's greatest asset is its stunning beaches with their warm waters and clean, white sand. The combination of warm water and idyllic beaches also provide the ideal conditions for water sports with many kite-surfers, wind- surfers, body boarders and surfers flocking to the area to enjoy the waves. With some 40-kilometres of beach to choose from, local beach goers are guaranteed to find the ideal spot to lay out their beach towels and relax on the sand. At one end of Port Elizabeth beaches with names such as Hobie Beach and Kings Beach offer a more commercial feel with many cafes and bars serving refreshing cocktails and delicious light meals; while at the other end a stretch of slightly rugged and wilder beaches including Seaview Beach, Sardinia Bay and Virgin Bay can be found. Here whales and dolphins can often be seen between May and November.
