With its starkly beautiful landscape of mountains, cone shaped hills and extensive plains, where elephants, rhino and giraffe roam; Kaokoland covers over 49 500kmē and stretches from the Hoanib River northward to the Kunene River. The Himba people are mostly found in this region - offering a fascinating look at their daily lives and many photographic opportunities. The area is known for its bad roads and it is recommended that travellers to this area are skilled at off-road driving and carry spare tires, water and fuel.
