Transfer by light aircraft across the winding waterways of the Okavango Delta as it filters out into the dry Kalahari sands. Your camp is set around a large rocky pan that is part of an ancient river system. Uninterrupted by predators the pan can be host to hundreds of kudu, impala, springbok and many more varieties of wildlife. You will have the opportunity to meet with one of the worlds oldest cultures - The San Bushmen. One of the big adventures of your stay will be to join the guides tracking Rhino. There are also numerous birding walks and game drives to be taken in the area and a variety of desert species can be seen.
On arrival in Maun you will board a light aircraft and enjoy a 30 min scenic flight across the south western Okavango to Shinde airstrip. Located at the edge of the Shinde lagoon Shinde camp is surrounded by deep clear waterways, which flow over yellow sands and past palm fringed islands teeming with bird life and game. The dining/lounge area is a multi-tiered tree house under canvas built amongst jackalberries, water figs and mangosteens and overlooks the luminescent waters of the delta. There is also a swimming pool in which to relax and cool off in the heat of the day.
Game activities are varied as the camp is in a private concession and Shinde offers the broadest game experience on offer in the Delta. Included are game drives, night drives, and motorboat trips along the delta waterways. Mokoro excursions are also available all year around in the shallower waters and you can stop to explore the tree islands on foot in search of game. Fly and spin fishing is also popular and Shinde waters are home to the voracious and much sought after tigerfish. All rods and tackle are provided in camp. During your stay at Shinde, you will liaise with your guide and the camp managers as to your preference of activities; they will make recommendations based on wildlife movements, time of day and season.
Accommodation is in deluxe tents with ensuite bathrooms, each tent with a unique view across the floodplain or onto the lagoon.

Edo's Camp is situated in a private game reserve over 120 000ha in size, the camp is set around a large rocky pan that is part of an ancient river system, in the past this chain of pans and springs were important watering points on the trekking route. One of the greatest pleasures at Edo's is to relax in camp to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere as the game come to the waterhole to drink; uninterrupted by predators the pan can be host to hundreds of kudu, impala, springbok and many more varieties of wildlife.
Your days are planned with your guide and a very special part of your experience will be to meet with one of the world's oldest cultures - the San Bushmen. There is a village situated on one area of the reserve, where they live as bushman do today, they do not wear traditional clothing but do carry out many old traditions including gathering food from the land. The women and children go out every morning and you are welcome to join them collecting a range of medicinal and edible plant life. One of the big adventures of your stay will be to join the guides tracking rhino. The Bushmen will locate some fresh tracks and you will be off on foot through the bush following the Bushmen's calls and hand signals, so as not to startle the rhino. There are also numerous birding walks and game drives to be taken in the area and a variety of desert species can be seen including mongooses, meerkats, squirrels, brown hyena, aardvark and different desert antelope.
Another special aspect of your time at Edo's Camp is an opportunity to visit the local orphanage, located on the property and sponsored by the owners of Edo's Camp and their guests (including you). You are welcome to bring books or other items from home to share with the children.
Road transfer to Maun in time for onward connections, the transfer is approximately 3 hours with refreshments en-route in a closed, comfortable vehicle.
