Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Situated in the very centre of Botswana, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is the second largest game reserve in the world and stretches over 52,800 kmē which makes it larger than Denmark or Switzerland. Game such wild dog, cheetah, lion, eland, kudu and gemsbok can all be seen throughout the year however; it is best to visit between December and April when the animals spend time at the pans and in the valleys. There are three entrance gates to the park, one in the west (Xade), one in the south (Khutse) and the most popular gate in the north (Matswere). There are only very basic camping facilities available in the park and it is advisable that guests stay in one of the lodges on the outskirts and enter the park with a trained safari operator.
